Trusted West Texas Law Firm Since 1908

A Legacy of Legal Excellence in West Texas

Few law firms in Texas can claim a history as deep and distinguished as Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam. Founded in 1908, our West Texas law firm has grown from the vision of a single attorney into one of the largest and most respected legal practices in the region — serving individuals, businesses, and institutions across West Texas and beyond for more than a century.

The firm traces its origins to attorney William H. Bledsoe, whose influence extended well beyond the courtroom. In 1919, Bledsoe was elected a Texas State Senator and was instrumental in the legislation that led to the creation of what became Texas Tech University. In 1926, Bledsoe and Charles C. Crenshaw, Sr. became partners. Two years later, George W. Dupree — Crenshaw’s former law partner — joined what became the partnership of Bledsoe, Crenshaw & Dupree. Just prior to Bledsoe’s death in 1936, James H. Milam joined the firm. On January 1, 1940, the firm took its current name — a name it has carried for more than eight decades as a tribute to its founders and the values they established.

Today, Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam maintains its principal office in Lubbock, the largest city on the South Plains of West Texas, and a second office in Hobbs, New Mexico. Our location affords us access to exceptional research resources, including the nearby Texas Tech University School of Law and the University’s Medical School — tools that support the quality and thoroughness our clients have come to expect.

A Firm Built on Strength and Experience

The strength of Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam as a West Texas law firm is built on something that cannot be manufactured quickly — generations of legal knowledge, institutional relationships, and a deep understanding of the communities and industries we serve. That foundation is handed down from one generation of attorneys to the next, ensuring that our clients benefit not only from the experience of the attorneys they work with directly, but from the collective wisdom of everyone who has practiced here before.

Our firm represents major national and international corporations and institutions, as well as local and regional individuals, businesses, and organizations across a wide range of legal matters. We serve clients across all of our practice areas — from agriculture and oil and gas to commercial litigation, family law, and beyond — through a team of experienced attorneys, legal assistants, and support staff committed to delivering results.

Our firm has earned an AV peer rating — the highest rating available through the Martindale-Hubbell rating system — a reflection of the confidence our peers in the legal community place in both our legal ability and our professional ethics.*
